What is Printing
Printing as a profession is the skilled work of producing books, newspapers, packaging, labels, stickers, posters, and other materials by transferring ink (or toner) onto paper, board, fabric, or just about any other surface you can think of. Since the digital revolution, 4-color process printing has revolutionized the industry. Printing covers a wide range of operations:

Prepress - preparing digital files, color management, proofing, and making plates or screens

Press operation - running the print job from its digital format to its final form as a printed piece (remember print graphics on just about anything)

Bindery and Finishing - cutting, folding, binding, laminating, die-cutting

Print Production Management - customer service, estimating, scheduling, quality control, and customer service
A printer specialize in commercial printing, packaging, large format, merch, and yes, anything you can think of they can print it.
Specialized printers can be more specialized than FedEx or UPS printers (no offense, much love for those printers!)
They make great first jobs!
How do I learn printing
Start with a print shop like UPS or FedEx Office, then work your way up to a role at a specialized print shop or open a print shop up of your own!
